Easter 2011

Easter at The Nocturnal Enclosure!

We Giggles visited our friends at the Nocturnal Enclosure for Easter this year, and man oh man was it fun!! So 1st, pictures of the short car ride there... yeah yeah I know, before you get started on how long it's been since I blogged, I'm sorry but you've no idea the mess of things happening with we Giggles. ~> of course, how COULD you when I chose to skip out on blogging?! ANYWAY!

I actually manages to find matching dresses for all 4 girls!! WooHoo! (I'm sure you are thinking, why is she going all supper-happy on us simply because she found matching dresses?!).. well, I'll tell you why! I challenge you to find matching dresses 2 weeks before Easter in sizes ranging from 3 months to misses 10!! I shopped in three different departments to find them! Anyway, enough about the dresses already! I also got matching outfits for the boys too!!! **giggle**

The Coming Singularity

My dear husband recently forwarded an Article from Time magazine on Ray Kurzweil and The Coming Singularity (http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,2048138,00.html?xid=rss-mostpopular). Talk about some seriously mind-blowing stuff!! I'm not sure how much of it I believe, but Kurzweil is one seriously smart dude and if he and big-brains like him truly think that the coming Artificial Intelligence Boom will change mankind forever, then I guess it's time to re-watch I, Robot and prepare for the massively awesome technological explosion that said big-brains believe will change life forever in this little rock called Earth.

In 1965, at 16 years old, Ray Kerzweil appeared on the television show I've Got A Secret, where he played a piano piece written by a computer he designed and built. check it out here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4Neivqp2K4) on YouTube.WOW in and of itself.

A that Young Kurzweil could build the computer at all, and

B that in 1965, 1965!!, a computer wrote NEW original compositions of music-

AND it wasn't crap either!

Since that time, Kurzweil has written several bestselling books on The Coming Singularity including The Singularity Is Near - available in print and Kindle format.

Frankly, I have little doubt that computers will transcend human intelligence, but I had always assumed that this would happen FAR FAR FAR after I pass from this mortal coil. Kurzweil and the other Big Brains seem to think however that the Singularity is imminent... by 2045... I may very well live to see the day that humans inject their consciences into computers, androids, whatever-the-hell they will be called. And they will! If the technology exists, many many "mere humans" will be quick to shed their mortal bodies for the cold indifferent immortal "flesh" of machine. NOT I! And oh how I hope not any of mine. I sometimes wish I were ~~smarter~~ more intelligent, better able to clearly speak what goes on in the echoing canyon of my skull... maybe then I could convey how very much the thought of the human race consigned to immortality is a frightening prospect.

The Fox Enclosure GROWS

The Fox Enclosure has GROWN!!

Tiny baby Kit Fox was born

to Proud Parents

and Big Brother Red Fox

on February 10, 2011 at 12:05 AM!!

Tiny Kit Fox weighed in at 6 pounds 9 ounces

and was 19.75 inches long at birth.

She’s a gorgeous addition

to our family here at Giggle’s Zoo,

and Lion and I are SO HAPPY

to have been named Godparents

to this tiny little girl!

Getting to Know the Giggles: Koala

Koala

Now that Koala is 2 months old and (as I've already established in previous posts) NOT a newborn anymore, it is time to Get To Know Koala on Giggle's Zoo :)

Koala is a sweet darling baby... she's incredibly easy (SO easy, in fact, I wonder what's in store for me in the future... is she God's Butter-Me-Up-Gift to compensate for the next child?!). LOL Koala is happy almost all of the time, she rarely cries, and when she does she's fairly easy to console.

She sleeps through the night already!! Well, most of the time anyway :) The only thing I can find to complain about is that sometimes - maybe once a week - she decides she DOESN'T want to keep her self-appointed schedule of going to sleep at 9:30 (then sleeping soundly until I get her up at 7:00 to get kids ready for school)... SOMETIMES she decides she wants to chat -- cooing and "talking" until 11 or 12... or just 2 nights ago, till 1am! But even THEN she's not crying or even complaining... she's just not ready to sleep. If I get up, grab my Kindle, and go read in a dark room with only my phone for light, she drifts right off... Darling Little Bird will then sleep till 9 if I can let her.

Koala is a smiling girl... as I've already shown in previous post last week... And here's another picture, taken on her 2 month birthday:

Koala's First (recorded) Deliberate Smile!!

Koala is smiling!!

Actually, she's smiled since Day 1... seriously!! She HAS! I have pictures to prove it (err... well, *I* don't but Aunt Penguin does... from the morning following her birth). All the silly baby books, and my experiences with her 5 older brothers and sisters, lead me to believe that infants ~~can't~~ - scratch that - don't smile till closer to their 3 month birthday, so... until the last week I was thinking... surely not... she's not really smiling, she's just making faces... not responding to our faces. But sure enough, she smiles when other's smile! AND she's been doing it quite deliberately for several weeks now! AND she's not yet 2 months old! YAY Koala! Anyway! I finally had the camera on-hand when she was in a smiley mood :-D So I'll shut up and post the pictures already! ;-)

"Yes Mama? Is there something I can do for you?"

Scrapbooking Mama Roo

I haven't scrapbooked ~~much~~ at all in the last 2 years... what with our home addition and well, STUFF... so these are the ONLY pages I've completed in the last 2 years!! And I managed to do them all in the last 2 weeks... yay me!!... of course, since I haven't been actively scrapping I had to use whatever pictures were right on hand... so there's VERY new ones (pics by Aunt Penguin done in the last few months) and VERY old ones (pictures of Tortoise as an infant -- 10 YEARS ago!). Now that I have a Craft Room, I hope to have regular Scrapbooking Mama Roo Posts. :)
